This project aims to promote good lighting practice by creating an online public directory of good and poor lighting installment in the communities, promote and establish the impact of the project in the local astronomy community and continue our successful international knowledge exchange effort.
Public roadshows to promote light pollution education in the community (2016-17)
This project aims to educate the public about the impacts of light pollution to the environment through the organization of roadshows in public venues, promote good lighting practice by piloting an online public directory of good and poor lighting installment in the communities and expand our international knowledge exchange effort.
Public Education Campaign to Conduct Research and Visualize Impacts of Light Pollution (2015-16)
This project aims to engage school students to experience first-hand the impacts of light pollution on the environment by a field trip, and to conduct studies on light pollution and promote measures to improve the situation in their communities by research cum video competition.
Promoting light pollution education and research worldwide (2014-15)
This project aims to spread the night sky measurement method developed at HKU to overseas locations, establish the foundation for setting up an international light pollution monitoring network and sustain light pollution public education in Hong Kong by maintaining the public webpage and night sky measuring programs.
Light Pollution Awareness Community Engagement Project (2013-14)
This project aims to educate the general public the ecological impacts of light pollution by collaborating with local environmental groups and engage school students to conduct scientific studies of light pollution and to promote measures to improve the situation in their communities.
Community Light Pollution Reach-out Project (2012-13)
This project aims to promote the awareness of light pollution to the public, alert the public the light pollution studies conducted in HKU, and engage secondary school students to study and understand light pollution scientifically by running workshops in schools and organizing community reach-out events.
